Growing Weary

Long ago, a guy named Paul wrote these words, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

I’m sure Paul wasn’t restoring an old dairy farm, but he knew what he was talking about…because I am growing weary.  Tired.  Feeling at times defeated by the piles.

Especially the metal piles.

When I read the King James version of Galatians 6:9, it was what Paul said at the end that made my mouth smirk into a smile.  “If we faint not.”  HAH!  Just the heat and sun alone is enough to induce fainting.

Not to mention the amount of work still to be done and the lack of fresh water!

(Our water isn’t currently drinkable.)

Let me put this into farm perspective.  I am going to battle the heat, the sun and the piles, and not grow weary!  Every day that my husband is not working at his “real” job we are going to wake up early and begin to lift, heave, sort, sift and bag all the garbage that still remains.

We will NOT grow weary; however, we will walk away tired.  Exhausted.

I don’t know what it is about that piece of land on the corner of Aden Road, but every time I  spend more than an hour there I am literally useless and wiped out for the rest of the day.  Fixing dinner is pretty much out of the question!  It feels like a giant vacuum has sucked the energy out of me.  I just want to lie down anywhere and rest in the shade.

However, in due season, eventually, one day…with hope and faith, we will reap what we have sown.  Something good will come from the work we have done.  I can’t wait!  Even if it seems like it may be a long, long while…OR even if it seems it may never happen.  I will press on, pick up the piles and continue to work in this heat.  Hoping and praying that I faint not!

  1. With all the heat and humidity I noticed that our Heavenly Father gave you a great shade tree to sit under and recoup your strength! Isn’t He great?! I love the picture of you under the tree resting. Then you can mount up with wings as an eagle, run and not be weary, walk and not faint! (better you than me in that heat and humidity though!) 🙂

  2. I expect your hard work is already reaping rewards in that your family is enjoying togetherness and working towards a common goal.
